Don’t ask me how a Jackdaw chick gets through a heavily beaded curtain, and past a high prey drive dog, and sits on the window sill in all his clumsiness, but more recently that is what I discovered. I wasn’t feeling the best, but after four attempts, I managed to reach over boxes of storage and throw a polka dot table cloth over him, and finally get him out of the window back to the land of the living.. I wondered why there had been so many Jackdaws at my bird table, but of course they were babies, although they were not that small by any means. They mate for life and are part of the the Crow family, but are smaller and greyish in colour. They are supersmart like crows, and love trinkets!! A group of noisy Jackdaws is referred to as a Clattering or a Train. They can be the bane of Farmers as they can destroy a good crop. In mid summer they will start to lose their feathers and will have a new set ready to go by Autumn.
