If ever there was a creature that can entertain with his brazen ways, yet can also send gardeners and bird feeders into a rage, it is this very clever chap. Never missing an opportunity, he will go to risky lengths when he eyes a prize.
I watched in amazement last week as two very plucky grey squirrels made their way along the fence to a short dead tree where bird food was out. Despite crows, magpies, pigeons Jackdaws and alike all feeding together, and despite one of my dogs who is prey driven going in and out of the back garden, they took the risk and bustled in amongst the birds confident they could score and still get away from my Shepherd Husky. They did, and of course under my watchful eye, I made sure from then on that the bird table was clear of those who cannot fly.. before he charged out!
Food is plentiful with berries and such but they wanted the suet drops, and they got them.. I did buy little suet ball holders, but they managed to get them off the tree and drag all six away..and I found the little holders over the fence in the woods.. You have to admire that kind of tenacity..
And there was plenty to admire last night in Chawton. Steve gave a completely inspired ‘in the moment’ address and brought our lovely messages!! Well done Steve. Great job! Chris Elliot chaired beautifully. We had lovely prayers and readings, and even a prayer sang by Sarah. Just lovely. Julie ran the music. Plenty of biccies, tea and coffee and of course healing followed. Thank you everyone!!
Calendar up next.
Signs of Spring are upon us. Let’s act as if..
