Here is a flower for August. The Gladioli. Known also as a Sword Lily, she was thrown in the old gladiator arenas of Rome and aptly named. She is found naturally in Asia, The Mediterranean and Africa, and Oh how we love her here in the UK for the summertime.

In Europe during the sixteenth century, a mashed gladioli root would help to bring out those annoying splinters and in The Bible The Lilies of the Field were attributed to this ‘lily’ beauty. Her symbolism is one of honour, faithfulness and integrity, and she’s a towering and pretty flower too.

What a lovely evening last night with Dave Collins. Dave shared some special words and brought our wonderful messages and we had a lovely evening with him! Thank you so much Dave!! Nerina chaired with her usual grace and we heard beautiful prayers and readings from the family. Tea, coffee, baked goods and healing were on hand as always. Thank you to all who helped with all aspects of the gathering.

Prayer of the week.

Let us pray for those who marched against hate, and racism, and against all those causing dissention in our land.

Calendar up next.

Have a beautiful week as we experience another glimpse of true summer!
