We are almost at mid winter and a few days later it will be Christmas. We celebrate a boy child who has brought us understanding through his teachings, healing through his Divine Presence and Light, and a whole new way of looking at this physical plane and the challenges we often have before us., pulling us closer to goodness and The Father of us all.

In the Nativity setting, from the wealth and education of the Magi, to the simple tending of sheep by the Shepherds along with an unlikely couple, Joseph, older but a wise good man, and a simple young woman, pure, gentle and so humble in heart, we are reminded about what really counts. so may we hold fast to this vision of Love and Joy this season.

We had such a beautiful Divine service last night in Chawton. Beautiful prayers, readings, and many extra special readings for Christmas, then carols, and lovely yummies from our food angels.

Thank you everyone who has made this such an incredible year for our Church. So many people help to make this happen.

As we travel ever closer to Christmas, we start to celebrate ‘The Stories.’ The Three Wise Men, Magi, deriving from Magician, but not so much about magic, but schooled and educated especially in astrology and the night sky. They were wealthy and often assumed to be kings.

They set off on their journey from the east, following a star, something exceptional in the night sky, and must have journeyed for some time, evidence suggesting that they would have arrived much later to Bethlehem.

They rode on camels, known as ‘Ships of the Desert.’ These animals have an ability to store water in their famous humps and therefore are very hardy when in desert places.

This story is central to the Nativity story unfolding. The star they followed is a huge symbol at Christmas, sometimes nestled at the top of our Christmas trees in lieu of an angel.. A star so exceptional that it inspired these three Magi from some distance to leave their families and follow it.

Well last night we had some stars of our own, as we had our fun filled Carol and Pantomime service. Our annual pantomime is a tradition at Alton Christian Spiritualist Church!!

We sang carols, lit our advent candle, enjoyed the pantomime – Sleeping Beauty no less, and then Santa came with his Elves and gave out presents and cards, and then goodies galore, mince pies, mulled wine, tea and coffee, and plenty of time to enjoy each other and the laughter!!

We also received more donations for Alton Food bank!!

Thank you everyone. So many people made this happen.

Thank you to our readers, our cast, our food angels, Santa and his Elf helpers, Cleaner uppers, and a special thank you to Nerina, who did so much behind the scenes!!

Prayer of the week

Please pray for Peace in this world.

Calendar up next.

Slow down and enjoy the wonder and reason for the season.

Have a beautiful week everyone!!

Those of us who gather on zoom on a Wednesday evening just love the chance to come together to hear the prayers, readings and music. It is so special, especially with healing following the service.

Thank you everyone for such lovely prayers and readings.

Please pray for those suffering in wars around this world.

We will be having our carol service and pantomime this Sunday in Chawton. We are collecting for Alton Food Bank so please bring any goods you can.

See you Sunday!!

The reason British folk talk so much about the weather is because it is literally an ever changing canvas.. Over the weekend, we had some quite heavy fog in these parts, and were half expecting snow. It certainly was cold enough for it. Fog is basically the clouds ‘touching the ground’ at a low altitude, and reducing visibility to less than 1 km, as opposed to mist, that does not reduce visibility to that distance, so mist is a ‘lighter’ cloud in layman’s terms..

The otherworldly mystical appearance has given much inspiration for quotes, poems and songs through the centuries, and sun or moonlight shining through lends itself especially to a vision both magical and beautiful.

Well our Christmas Healing gathering last night was just that – beautiful, and also gentle and serene with some lovely hymns. Thank you to our readers who set the tone. Thank you to Julie on music, Food Angel Sue. Thank you Healers for bringing the healing through during the service.

Calendar will be up next.

Have a beautiful week!! You never know what you are going to get with the weather. ‘Life is like a box of chocolates’
