The warm and sunny spells are mixing with rain, showing us that we are very much in the new season now. The fullness of this Harvest Moon was witnessed last Friday and she has been a steady, luminous lamp in the sky ever since. It is no wonder she has been called by that name. In days gone by, that lamp in the sky was such a great help to farmers finishing their work, particularly as the moon appears earlier in the night sky at this time of year due to her angle and path close to the equinox.

I am reminded daily that the hedgehog house sitting on my kitchen table, as I pour my coffee each morning, really does need to be organised! The time for hedgehog hibernation is coming quickly, and I will have to find a safe place and some extra debris to cover it.

A few neighbourhood cats continue to frequent my extension to watch the birds in relative comfort and, let’s face it, get a bit of fuss! The mallow has gone wild in my garden. Where did that come from? And did you know that autumnal babies have a higher chance of becoming a centenarian?

Although the moon is starting to wane, she remains a reminder of gratitude, even during trying times. We all have so much that we take for granted. Her symbolism is most obviously that of harvest, gratitude and completion. This autumn will give us time to reflect and evaluate everything in our lives. Being pensive doesn’t mean being sad. Quieter times feel very good when they are needed, and they help to recharge the spirit.

If you are fortunate enough to see this still-bright moon near the horizon, without cloud cover, you may witness a wonderful trick of the light. You can enjoy not only the illusion of a larger moon, but also her beautiful amber hues.

Last night, there was no waning in Chawton! Unfortunately, Pink Sarah was unable to be with us, but our own Sarah Dorgan stepped in as our medium, and what a lovely night we had. Sarah brought inspired thoughts to us, reminding us about kindness even when faced with more difficult people, and then went on to bring so many messages for family. Thank you, Sarah, and well done!

Our beautiful Nerina chaired the evening with her usual grace. Thank you. With prayers and readings to lift us from the family, the energy was high. Julie ran our music, thank you. And thank you again to Carole for another delicious cake! And our healers stood by after the service for anyone in need. And as always, a special thank you to everyone who sets up and breaks down each Sunday evening.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK

Please pray for the children of this world, who are in such challenging situations in different regions. So many do not have access to medical help, and simple illnesses and conditions that could be solved easily cause such suffering. These children of impoverished countries suffer in so many different ways, which can affect them for their whole lives.

Calendar will be up tomorrow.

Pause. In the moments, we are all just spirit having a very human experience.

Have a beautiful week!
